Above: The severely-damaged LCI(L) 85 off Omaha Beach on D-Day. After beaching on Easy Red sector at around 0830, the craft was hit by machine gun fire and shells, resulting in flooding below decks and causing the craft to list. At least fifteen of the troops on board were killed, and many wounded. Some four of the US Coast Guard crew were also wounded, but none killed.
